Viva’s Blog: What’s your 9-9-9?
No more “Who’s Herman Cain?”
Herman Cain, Republican Presidential Candidate, became a household name nearly overnight. How? He devised a name for a tax plan that is easy to remember and means something. It’s crisp and a child could understand it. How did Herman Cain come up with the name: 9-9-9 plan? He listened. He observed. He understood that Americans are fed up with politicians’ complicated messages. He limited the message to one thought, found a simple way to convey it, and he relentlessly repeats it.
What do your customers think?
What comes to mind when your customers hear your name? If we asked ten, would their responses be consistent? Would they be clear and concise, or long and complicated?
Don’t leave it to chance.
Think Cain described the details of his tax strategy and then people started calling it the 9-9-9 plan? Of course not. He carefully crafted the name as well as the back story. Then, he repeats it every chance he gets. Even when it isn’t the answer to a question.
Go for a bike ride.
Or go for that run. Do whatever it takes to reflect on why your brand is great and then consult with the experts, your customers. Listen to their words, their description of the “wow” you deliver. Then, succinctly craft a description that is easy to understand, remember, and repeat.
Easy? Nope.
It’s not a challenge for the faint of heart. It’s hard. Really hard. But it’s a must do.
Just do it.
Start creating your 9-9-9 plan today.
